A 33-year-old woman formerly of Sutton-in-Ashfield has been sentenced to four years and eight months’ imprisonment at Nottingham Crown Court after admitting to sexually assaulting a young child, filming the abuse, and distributing the recordings online.

Lorna Hargreaves, formerly of Sutton-in-Ashfield, appeared for sentence on Thursday 15 October 2026 following an extensive digital forensics inquiry conducted by Nottinghamshire Police.

The prosecution outlined that Hargreaves committed serious child sexual abuse throughout 2025. Over this period, Hargreaves repeatedly recorded video footage of herself carrying out sexual assaults on a young girl. In addition to the video recordings, Hargreaves captured indecent photographs of the victim, as well as an illicit image of a second female child.

Hargreaves subsequently distributed these self-produced child abuse videos and images to an online male associate who shared her paedophilic interests.

On 3 December 2025, police officers executed an enforcement warrant at Hargreaves’ residence. Investigators seized computers and mobile hardware, which were submitted for specialist data recovery.

Forensic analysis confirmed the presence of the recorded sexual assaults alongside broader repositories of indecent images of children and illegal extreme pornography depicting animals.

Furthermore, investigators recovered evidence proving Hargreaves had engaged in a series of voyeurism offences between 2022 and 2025. Hargreaves had secretly placed recording devices to capture multiple individuals in intimate situations without their knowledge or consent, subsequently distributing the voyeuristic footage online for her own sexual gratification.

Confronted with the forensic extractions, Hargreaves pleaded guilty to an indictment covering:

Four counts of sexual assault on a child

Three counts of distributing indecent images of a child

Taking and making indecent images of children

Voyeurism

Possessing extreme pornographic images

Passing sentence on 15 October 2026, the Crown Court judge handed Hargreaves an immediate custodial term of four years and eight months (56 months). The court also imposed a 12-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), lifetime restraining orders barring any contact with her victims, and ordered that she remain subject to lifetime notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register.

Under the provisions of Section 49 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1933 and the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, all child victims and complainants connected to criminal proceedings are protected by automatic, lifelong statutory anonymity. Publishing, broadcasting, or disseminating any details, names, addresses, educational facilities, or photographs capable of leading to public identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.

Hargreaves stood convicted of:

Four counts of sexual assault on a child

Three counts of distributing indecent images of a child

Taking and making indecent images of children

Voyeurism

Possessing extreme pornographic images

Sentencing outcome and statutory measures:

Four years and eight months’ immediate custody
