A police chief has requested a reevaluation of the sentence imposed on one of his disgraced former colleagues, Lee Bartram, the West Bromwich Paedophile, back in 2019.
Lee Bartram, 44, received a suspended sentence on Thursday after confessing to the creation and distribution of over 450 obscene photos of minors.
The ex-West Midlands Police inspector was dismissed from the force in September due to serious misconduct.
Chief Constable Dave Thompson of the force stated that the 16-month suspended sentence was “excessively lenient.”
“The public anticipates police protection and does not expect officers to violate the law,” he stated.
The force is deliberating an appeal against Lee Bartram’s sentencing with the Crown Prosecution Service and has initiated proceedings to revoke his police pension, Mr. Thompson stated.
Lee Bartram, residing on Bustleholme Lane in West Bromwich, was stationed in Birmingham during his tenure with the police department and was apprehended in August for uploading illicit images to the Tumblr photo-sharing platform.
Video discovered on Lee Bartram’s devices depicted a youngster, estimated to be eight or nine years old, traversing Birmingham city centre, captured while he was on duty.
At Wolverhampton Crown Court, Lee Bartram confessed to misconduct in public service, eight counts of producing indecent photos, and two counts of distributing them.
In addition to the suspended sentence, Lee Bartram received a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
