Lauren Sissons, the Hanley child and animal abuser, mother of three, has evaded incarceration despite maintaining malnourished dogs in a squalid residence littered with excrement and refuse for her own gratification.
Lauren Sissons possessed two German Shepherds, a cocker spaniel, a cat, and a terrapin in her residence in Hanley, which she shared with her openly paedophile partner, Adrian Vermaak, who is presently incarcerated for child sexual assault and rape charges.
Operating out of the “family home, with Lauren Sissons, Adrian Vermaak, 38, received a four-year term in 2024 for five counts of engaging in sexual behaviour with two female victims under the age of 16.
As usual, British Justice decided that the partner of the paedophile, Lauren Sissons, was not aware of her partner’s child molestation of the children…yeah, ok.
A social worker notified the police of the condition of the animals following a visit to the location on March 26, 2025, to check on the welfare of the three children in the house.
The North Staffordshire Justice Centre was informed that the residence was unclean, with faeces and debris on the flooring.
There was an absence of food and water, and the pets were inadequately exercised.
One of the German Shepherds was characterised as emaciated, alopecic, with a tumour protruding from its chest.
The other dog was similarly thin and afflicted with skin diseases, and neither could stand on their hind legs owing to malnutrition.
The cocker spaniel had frequent scratching and was emaciated, with matted fur surrounding its ears.
The cat reportedly had a dermatological condition and was scratching itself.
Simultaneously, the water tank housing the terrapin was exceedingly contaminated, impairing its ability to breathe, and lacked an island for the semi-aquatic animal to emerge from the water.
Lauren Sissons is now prohibited from possessing animals for a duration of JUST three years.
Charlotte Morgan, the prosecutor, stated: “The residence was unsanitary, with excrement and debris scattered throughout.”
The rear garden was littered with canine excrement, and the back door exhibited significant damage, indicating that the dogs had been kept outside for an extended duration and were agitated in their attempts to enter the residence.
“All animals had skin conditions and should’ve been taken to the vet promptly.
The defendant, Lauren Sissons, should have known these animals were suffering. This was a disregard for the welfare of the animals and a failure to seek welfare for them. This was unnecessary pain and suffering caused to animals.”
Lauren Sissons, of Mayer Street, pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
In addition to the ban on keeping animals, Magistrate Joanna Wilkinson sentenced Lauren Sissons to a 12-month community order, including 20 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 80 hours of unpaid work.
Lauren Sissons must also pay a total of £199.
It is also recommended that neither Lauren Sissons nor Adrian Vermaak be left alone with children or animals.
