Two months after being caught for having Category A child abuse photographs of toddlers, a disgusting paedophile was hired at a childcare in Leeds.

In May 2025, Kristian Parry was detained at the nursery where he worked on suspicion of having pornographic and illegal photos. Thousands of pictures and videos, including a baby in a nappy serving as his screensaver, were discovered on his phone by West Yorkshire Police.

Parry’s Samsung phone was discovered to contain 871 Category A photos and videos depicting child rape and torture.

An additional 1,187 Category B, 3,263 Category C, and 52 illegal images—many of which featured young infants and toddlers—were in his possession.

He was hired by another nursery two months later.

At a hearing at Leeds Crown Court in March of this year, Parry, 26, was given a two-year term, a ten-year sexual harm prevention order, and a ten-year placement on the sex offender registry.

Before being hired, Parry ought to have finished a DBS check.

Since the new employer employed the updated service, which only looks for non-convictions every nine months, the check should have reported his arrest for images of child sexual abuse, but it did not.

The Home Office has been informed regarding the DBS update service, according to a West Yorkshire Police spokesperson.

We acknowledge that parents, guardians, and members of the broader community continue to have concerns regarding the fact that an individual convicted of offences involving indecent images of children was previously employed in several nursery settings,” they stated.

“We recognise the ongoing anguish this causes to those impacted.”

The Home Office has been contacted regarding the DBS Update Service, highlighting this specific situation, and the investigation has been evaluated as part of the complaints process. We acknowledge that there may have been more effective contact with parents and guardians during the preliminary investigation, and we sincerely regret it. The complainants have been informed that this is a learning area that we will address internally.

We have already written to all affected parents and guardians to provide additional information about the preliminary inquiry, including details on the monitoring of those on bail. Based on the information at hand, we will consider every possible infraction in any investigation. In this instance, we have also consulted the Crown Prosecution Service for expert guidance. Based on evidence obtained following Kristian Parry’s imprisonment in March, we have documented another fraud offence that is still being looked into.”

“These crimes are absolutely sickening, and our thoughts remain with the families affected,” a government official said in a statement. It was wrong to let this predator operate in a nursery. We are investigating this case’s circumstances immediately to resolve the concerns it has brought up.”
