Kato Tsang, aged 45, of Bridge Street, Brigg, North Lincolnshire, has been sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment at Grimsby Crown Court on Tuesday, 25 August 2026, after being convicted of raping a teenage girl under 16 years of age.
The criminal investigation commenced in May 2022 after the victim reported to Humberside Police that she had been subjected to rape by Tsang. Detectives from the force’s Protecting Vulnerable People Unit and Child Sexual Exploitation Team launched an inquiry, securing evidence regarding Tsang’s actions leading up to the sexual assault.
The court heard that Tsang manipulated the teenage victim by providing her with alcohol and behaving in an over-familiar manner. Officers recovered CCTV footage from the date of the incident showing Tsang repeatedly invading the victim’s personal space, touching her, and placing his arm around her. Tsang subsequently offered to drive the teenager home, but diverted his vehicle to a secluded area where he carried out the rape.
Following his arrest, Tsang provided police with a pre-prepared statement denying any involvement in the crime, before answering no comment throughout the remainder of his interview. He maintained his innocence throughout court proceedings, forcing the victim to attend court and give evidence.
Following a seven-day trial at Grimsby Crown Court that concluded on 28 July 2026, a jury convicted Tsang of:

Appearing for sentence on 25 August 2026, the presiding judge handed Tsang a custodial term of eight years’ imprisonment. The court also imposed a lifelong Restraining Order prohibiting any contact with the victim and made Tsang subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for a period of 20 years.
