In 2026, the Offender Register confirmed that Joshua Kerry had been identified as the suspect in the murder investigation of Ann Widdecombe. On July 9, the 78-year-old former MP and MEP was discovered deceased at her residence in Haytor, Devon, which is situated on Dartmoor in Devon.
Counter-terrorism police are investigating the demise of the former politician. A 28-year-old white British man in custody has been arrested on suspicion of murder and the commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism.
He is now known as Joshua Kerry, and he hails from Rotherham, South Yorkshire. On July 11, Mr Kerry was apprehended.
Police suspect that Miss Widdecombe’s body was undiscovered for nearly 24 hours after her demise. According to detectives, she was assaulted at her residence on July 8, just 30 minutes before her scheduled appearance on Channel 5’s Matt Allwright show via video call.
At 12.19 p.m., she sent a text message to a producer; however, she neglected to respond to a subsequent text at 12.48 p.m. At 12.30 p.m., Devon and Cornwall Police suspect that she was assaulted at her bungalow, which is situated on the outskirts of Dartmoor National Park.
