In 2022, a paedophile supply teacher and Leicester private tutor, John Royley, who confessed to committing numerous child sex offences, was sentenced to five years in prison.
John Royley, then 46, of Salcombe Drive, Leicester, was discovered to possess over 1,200 indecent images of minors and had engaged in sexual communication with an 11-year-old girl.
A further 330 images were discovered to have been distributed and subsequently deleted, including some of the most extreme types, according to the police.
In 2020, Royley, who was employed in Leicestershire and other regions, was the subject of an investigation after a report was filed regarding a male engaging in sexual communication with an 11-year-old girl on social media.
According to Leicestershire Police, the investigation led them to Royley, who was employing an alias on the platform.
Royley was apprehended, and officers confiscated numerous devices, including a laptop, tablet, and mobile phone, which contained hundreds of indecent images.
A young woman later reported to the police that Royley had taught her when she was younger and had engaged in “inappropriate behaviour,” including requesting that she “kiss and cuddle him.”
At an earlier hearing at Leicester Crown Court, Royley entered a plea of guilty to six counts of creating indecent images of a child and three counts of distributing indecent images of a child.
Additionally, he acknowledged engaging in sexual communication with a minor and two counts of causing or inciting a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.
Royley was also placed on the sex offenders‘ register and issued a sexual harm prevention order for life during his sentencing at the same court on Monday.
