Ian Ortis of Boscombe Road, Southend, was jailed for a total of 16 years’ imprisonment for offences including sexual assault on a child under 13 and making and possessing indecent images when he appeared at Basildon Crown Court on Friday, 2 December.
He will also serve an extended licence of eight years and will be subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.
The offences took place between January 1 2018, and his arrest on Monday, March 21.
The then forty-year-old was arrested after our Police Online Investigation Team (POLIT) received information that registered sex offender Ian Ortis, on a lifetime licence, had been accessing indecent images of children via the internet.
Officers seized five devices from his address.
When they were forensically examined, they found imagery of Ian Ortis sexually assaulting his victim.
Ian Ortis was recalled to prison immediately.
Ian Ortis was charged with:
- Assault of a child under 13 by penetration
- Sexual assault of a child under 13
- Causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
- Three counts of taking indecent photographs of a child
- Two counts of making indecent photographs of a child
- Three counts of distributing or showing indecent photographs or indecent pseudo-photographs of a child or children
- Permitting the taking of indecent photographs of a child
- Attempted rape of a child
