Elisha Chikwezvero, aged 22, of Loveland Road, Aberystwyth, has walked free from Swansea Crown Court after receiving a suspended prison sentence for downloading child sexual abuse material and extreme pornography from the dark web.
The court heard that Chikwezvero, an undergraduate student enrolled at Aberystwyth University, engaged in the illicit downloading of indecent media across an extended timeframe between 6 September 2022 and 18 December 2024.
Following a police investigation and subsequent forensic analysis of computer hardware seized in Aberystwyth on 17 December 2024, specialists recovered an illicit archive comprising:
- 79 indecent images of children, which included 45 Category A images (the most severe statutory category)
- 36 extreme pornographic images depicting sexual acts with animals
- A prohibited image of a child
- Chikwezvero was formally charged and entered guilty pleas to:
- Making indecent images of children
- Possessing extreme pornography depicting acts with animals
- Possessing a prohibited image of a child
Appearing for sentence at Swansea Crown Court on Thursday, 17 September, the court determined that the custodial term could be suspended.
The judge sentenced Chikwezvero to eight months’ imprisonment, suspended for an operational period of 18 months.
As part of the community order, Chikwezvero was directed to carry out 150 hours of unpaid work within the community and complete designated rehabilitation requirements under the supervision of the Probation Service.
