Now that Eghe Egbon is incarcerated, a young woman who confronted a man who had sexually assaulted her believes he may be able to relate to some of the suffering she has endured.
In December 2023, care worker Eghe Egbon exploited her at his house after ignoring her numerous attempts to reject his approaches.
Knowing that she couldn’t give her consent, he waited until the woman, who was 19 at the time, was lying on his couch unconscious from drunkenness before attempting again.
After a trial at Durham Crown Court in April, the 54-year-old Coundon resident was convicted of sexual assault by penetration.
He received a five-year prison sentence earlier this month, a ten-year restraining order, and an indefinite signature on the sex offenders registry.
