2023 saw the imprisonment of a Macclesfield “violent bully”, David Overton, aka David Fury-Walsh, who raped and coerced three women while pretending to be linked to boxing great Tyson Fury.
According to authorities, David Fury-Walsh took out loans in the women’s names, threatened their kids, and beat them if they refused to have sex.
The then 31-year-old Macclesfield, Cheshire resident was found guilty of 25 crimes, including 13 rape charges.
Chester Crown Court sentenced him to 27 years in prison.
The victims informed police that Fury-Walsh, a Brook Street resident, had first shown compassion and generosity and had claimed to be related to the two-time world heavyweight champion.
However, the court heard that it quickly became apparent that he was a “fantasist” with a “darker side” who started abusing and controlling the ladies.
David Overton, also known as Fury-Walsh, would physically abuse his victims if they refused to comply with his demands for sex.
On two occasions, he even made his victims consume their own excrement.
Additionally, he managed the women’s finances by obtaining loans in their names and coercing them into giving up their funds with promises of large profits that never materialised.
The magnitude of his abuse surfaced in September 2021 when one of the women stated he had raped and assaulted her.
After Fury-Walsh was taken into custody, two other women came forward.
