In 2021, Dylan King, then 30 years old, of Grey Road, Walton, Merseyside, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to one year in prison after admitting failing to comply with his sex offender notification requirements.
The court heard details regarding King’s repeated refusal to notify police officers of his address changes. King was originally jailed for two years and three months in 2012 for sexual activity with a child under 16 years of age, an offence that placed him on the Sex Offenders Register. On 22 February, King was released from custody following a previous breach, but failed to attend a police station within three days to register his new address, as required by law.

During a previous seven-month disappearance, Merseyside Police tracked King to Teesside, where he was found living with a woman he met on a dating app and her children. The woman and her family had no knowledge of his conviction for sexual activity with a child under 16. The court heard he had been left alone with the children on numerous occasions, placing them at serious risk before his identity was uncovered.
At Liverpool Crown Court, Judge David Aubrey QC condemned King’s repeated failure to notify authorities, noting that it was his personal responsibility to report his location to Merseyside Police. Judge Aubrey sentenced Dylan King from Walton to one year in prison.
