Avon and Somerset Police have released a CCTV photograph appealing for public assistance to identify a man in connection with an ongoing sexual assault investigation on Clifton Down in Bristol.
The incident occurred between 1:00pm and 1:30pm on Saturday, 11 July 2026. A male victim was walking along Clifton Down when he was approached by an unknown man who initiated a conversation. Shortly thereafter, the suspect physically approached the victim and carried out a sexual assault before leaving the scene.
Investigating officers from Avon and Somerset Police responded to the report and initiated enquiries. Detective Constable Danielle George, the officer leading the case, confirmed that the victim is receiving dedicated police support while investigators work to establish the full circumstances and locate the individual involved.
The suspect is described by law enforcement as a white male, estimated to be in his mid to late fifties, who was wearing a light-coloured t-shirt at the time of the incident. Investigative enquiries indicate that the suspect may have been driving a distinctive black and red Vauxhall Mokka, or a similar model vehicle, in the immediate area.
DC Danielle George urged anyone who was present on Clifton Down around the time of the assault, or anyone possessing information regarding the identity of the man depicted in the appeal photo, to contact Avon and Somerset Police.
