A 37-year-old man from Norwich has been sentenced to three years and eight months’ imprisonment at Norwich Crown Court after amassing more than 1,000 indecent images of children and repeatedly breaching court-imposed restrictions.
Aaron Nobbs, of Yarmouth Road, Norwich, appeared for sentence on Friday 23 October 2026 following proactive management and enforcement operations conducted by Norfolk Constabulary’s Public Protection Unit.
The court heard that Nobbs was subject to strict compliance conditions and unannounced inspections. On Saturday 9 March 2024, two officers attended his address to conduct a compliance check and requested to inspect his mobile phone. While examining the device’s image gallery, an officer uncovered a Category A indecent video of a child.
Nobbs was cautioned, and a subsequent search of his bedroom led to the discovery of a tablet computer. Digital forensic analysis of both devices uncovered hundreds of illicit images and videos across Categories A, B, and C, including material depicting babies as young as six months old. The inspection also established that Nobbs had deliberately deleted his internet browsing history in direct violation of his court orders.
While being transported to custody, officers identified a connected cloud storage account and instructed Nobbs to supply the login credentials. Nobbs claimed he could not remember the password, resulting in a further arrest for breaching his order. During subsequent interviews at Wymondham Police Investigation Centre, Nobbs answered “no comment” to the majority of questions.
Despite the ongoing investigation, Nobbs reoffended. On 19 June 2025, public protection officers carried out another inspection and required him to surrender his mobile device. Forensics revealed hundreds of additional Category A, B, and C images. Investigators established that Nobbs had failed to declare the handset or produce it during previous police visits. In total, officers seized more than 1,000 indecent images and videos across his electronic hardware.
Nobbs pleaded guilty to six counts of making indecent images of children, four breaches of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, and the breach of an existing suspended sentence order.
Detective Constable Claire Cairns said:
“The number of images found on Nobbs’ devices was significant and included Category A material. Every image and video represents the abuse and exploitation of a child, there is no victimless aspect to these offences. Nobbs was subject to a SHPO which is designed to manage the risk he posed and protect children from harm. He continued to access indecent material and also deliberately breached the conditions imposed upon him. We are committed to proactively monitoring registered sex offenders and taking robust action when offences are identified and bring offenders before the courts.”
Passing sentence, the judge condemned Nobbs’ persistent disregard for court orders and the extreme nature of the material, sentencing him to three years and eight months in immediate custody. Nobbs will serve half of his sentence behind bars before being considered for release on licence.
The court also maintained strict public protection measures, continuing his Sexual Harm Prevention Order restrictions, requiring notification on the Sex Offenders Register, and barring him permanently from working with children or vulnerable adults.
