A 28-year-old Leicester man has received a 20-year extended custodial sentence at Nottingham Crown Court after being found guilty of four counts of rape, intentional strangulation, and coercive control during a sustained attack inside a Nottingham property.
Dylan Millns, residing at Wintersdale Drive, Leicester, appeared in the dock for sentence on Tuesday 3 November 2026 following a three-week trial before a Crown Court jury.
The court heard details of a violent and degrading ordeal that took place in 2024 inside a residential address in Nottingham. Over several hours, Millns subjected the primary victim to repeated assaults, striking her and forcibly pushing her head face-down into a pillow to the point where she was unable to breathe, before carrying out multiple rapes. The prolonged assault only came to an end when the victim managed to break away and escape from the address through a window to reach safety and contact Nottinghamshire Police.
Following his arrest and charge, Millns was remanded in custody at HMP Nottingham. While awaiting his trial, Millns engaged in a calculated campaign to pervert the course of justice, repeatedly placing telephone calls from prison to the survivor in an attempt to manipulate, intimidate, and dissuade her from giving evidence in court.
Further police investigations also linked Millns to earlier domestic violence offences involving two other female victims in 2023.
During the Crown Court proceedings, Millns admitted two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm in relation to the primary complainant, one count of assault by beating against a second woman, and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm against a third woman.
He contested the remaining charges, but the jury rejected his defence, returning guilty verdicts on:
Four counts of rape
One count of controlling and coercive behaviour
One count of intentional strangulation
Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, the survivor of the sexual offences is protected by mandatory, lifelong statutory anonymity. Any publication, broadcast, or public dissemination of information capable of leading to her identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.
Sentencing Millns, the presiding judge assessed him as a dangerous offender posing a serious, ongoing risk of harm to women, imposing a 20-year extended sentence. This requires Millns to serve an immediate custodial term of 15 years’ imprisonment, to be followed by an extended licence period of five years under probation supervision upon release.
The court further ordered that Millns be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and granted restraining orders prohibiting him from contacting any of the three victims until further notice.
