In 2026, a 26-year-old County Durham woman received an immediate custodial sentence at Teesside Crown Court after filming a sustained, violent assault on her former partner, publishing the footage to social media, and attacking another woman with a broken glass bottle.

Kelsey Bainbridge, of Spennymoor, appeared in the dock for sentence after entering guilty pleas to attempted wounding with intent, wounding, and possession of an offensive weapon.

The court heard that Bainbridge turned a mobile camera on herself as she carried out a prolonged physical attack against her ex-partner. She subsequently shared the recording across social media platforms accompanied by an explicit threat instructing the victim to prepare for his funeral because he was going in a coffin.

During the assault, Bainbridge subjected the man to a relentless series of blows, punching, kicking, and headbutting him. She then armed herself with multiple household objects, stabbing and striking him with a ceramic ornament, a china plate, and a picture frame. The man did not strike back despite Bainbridge’s continuous goading. He was transported to hospital for treatment to extensive injuries, which included a large laceration to his head.

The prosecution detailed that Bainbridge had also carried out a separate violent assault against a former female friend. During that incident, Bainbridge struck the victim with a broken Lambrini bottle, resulting in head swelling and lacerations.

Police located and arrested Bainbridge on the morning of Saturday 5 July in Spennymoor, where officers found her carrying a shovel in public. She was taken into custody and subsequently interviewed by detectives before charges were authorised.

The presiding judge at Teesside Crown Court sentenced Bainbridge to an immediate term of two years and six months’ imprisonment.
