Connor Dunkley, aged 31, of Fern Hill, Benllech, Tyn Y Gongl, Anglesey, was sentenced to six years in prison at Chester Crown Court on Friday, 10 July 2026, after being found guilty of controlling or coercive behaviour, rape, and criminal damage.
The court heard that Dunkley targeted the female victim in Cheshire during the course of their relationship, subjecting her to a relentless campaign of physical, verbal, and psychological abuse. Dunkley routinely belittled the victim, damaged her personal property, and forced her into non-consensual sexual acts.
In addition to physical abuse, Dunkley exercised severe financial and social control. He repeatedly took the victim’s money, leaving her without financial means, and systematically isolated her from her support network of friends and family due to extreme jealousy.
Cheshire Police initiated an investigation following reports made by the victim. Force detectives gathered crucial evidence, including financial records, witness testimony, and property damage reports, to establish Dunkley’s extensive pattern of domestic abuse and coercive behaviour.
Appearing before Chester Crown Court, Dunkley maintained his innocence, but a jury returned guilty verdicts across all charges following a trial.
On 10 July 2026, the presiding judge sentenced Dunkley to a total custodial term of six years’ imprisonment for his offences.
