George Gregory, then aged 77, of Cambeck Walk, Whitefield, has been sentenced to three years and four months in prison at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court for child protection offences.
The court heard details regarding a Greater Manchester Police investigation into two separate incidents in the Oldham area. Prosecutors outlined how Gregory groomed a child under 13, showing the victim sexually explicit material and carrying out physical assaults.
Following his arrest, officers recovered a recorded audio conversation in which Gregory acknowledged his actions. Prosecutors also presented details of how Gregory emotionally manipulated the young victim, warning that he would be imprisoned if the abuse was reported.
Gregory pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault against a child under 13.
On Wednesday 2 November 2022, Recorder Peter Wright sentenced Gregory to three years and four months’ imprisonment. The judge also placed Gregory on the sex offenders register indefinitely and issued a five-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
