In November 2022, Llewelyn Buckland, then aged 48, of Frankwell Street, Tywyn, Gwynedd, was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court to 16 months in prison after pleading guilty to downloading indecent images of children, possessing extreme pornography, and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
The court heard details regarding an investigation conducted by North Wales Police into Buckland, a convicted sex offender who had recently been released from custody under strict monitoring conditions.
Following his release, Buckland adopted a false identity to operate as an online clairvoyant, publishing tarot card readings on public platforms. However, because his mobile phone was fitted with police monitoring software and subject to routine inspection, officers conducted a digital forensic examination of his device.
The inspection revealed that Buckland had downloaded multiple indecent images of children and extreme pornographic content, directly violating the terms of his SHPO.
Buckland entered guilty pleas to five counts, including making/downloading indecent images of children, possession of extreme pornography, and breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
In November 2022, the presiding judge at Caernarfon Crown Court handed Buckland a 16-month custodial term, noting that his prior sexual convictions were the primary aggravating factor in the case.
