In 2026, Ian Perrin, a 64-year-old man from Wolverhampton, was jailed for 23 years after abusing five victims and attempting to derail his trial with forged text messages.
Ian Perrin, of Tremont Street, Wolverhampton, was sentenced at Luton Crown Court on Thursday, 23 July 2026, following a trial where he was found guilty of 11 offences. The charges included rape, indecent assault, gross indecency, child cruelty and neglect, and perverting the course of justice. The court heard that Bedfordshire Police launched an investigation after a victim reported being sexually abused by Perrin. Four further victims subsequently came forward, detailing abuse dating back to the late 1990s. During trial proceedings, Perrin forged text messages claiming a victim admitted fabricating allegations, but investigators quickly proved the evidence was fake.
The judge sentenced Perrin to 23 years in prison. The court also made him subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Following his convictions for rape, child abuse, and perverting the course of justice, Perrin was placed on the Sex Offenders Register until further order.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements, lifetime licence supervision, and mandatory risk management protocols by law enforcement upon any eventual release from custody.
