In 2026, Anthony Webb, an 81-year-old former Paralympian from Bude, was jailed for five years after being convicted of six counts of historic indecent assault against a child.
Anthony Webb, of Treleven Road, Bude, was sentenced at Truro Crown Court on Thursday, 30 July 2026, following a trial where he was found guilty of six counts of indecent assault. The court heard that the offences took place in the Bude area during the 1980s, when the victim was a teenager. Webb, who is medically blind, previously worked as a judo instructor and mentored children in blind sports across the UK. During his trial, Webb denied the offences and claimed an incident of touching was accidental due to his visual impairment, but the jury rejected his account.
The judge sentenced Webb to five years in prison.
Following his convictions for child sexual offences, Webb was placed on the Sex Offenders Register.
He also remains subject to statutory public protection notification requirements, licence conditions, and mandatory risk management protocols by law enforcement upon any eventual release from custody.
