In 2022, the Offender Register reported that a man from Smethwick was incarcerated today (November 23) for sexual assault that occurred following a night of intoxication.
John Poles was sentenced to seven years and eight months in prison at Wolverhampton Crown Court for four counts of assault by penetration and two counts of sexual contact.
In October 2020, the 53-year-old perpetrator, who resided in Manor Road, Smethwick, was acquainted with his victim and exploited her following a night of inebriation.
The police commended the victim of the sexual assault for her courage in reaching out to them following her traumatic ordeal.
