In 2022, the Offender Register reported that Valerian Ciornei, from Mansfield, 53, repeatedly exposed himself, accosted young women, and appeared inebriated in public, and he has been incarcerated.
Additionally, he has been issued a restrictive court order that prohibits him from engaging in a series of activities in the town centre of Mansfield. On Thursday (November 17), Ciornei, who has been arrested on numerous occasions in the past two years, was sentenced to 42 weeks in prison at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court.
In August of this year, he was observed engaging in a sexual act in public, which was one of four offences that ultimately led to his sentence. In addition, he stole a pair of jeans, carried a knife in public, threatened to murder a shopworker after being asked to leave, and made lewd and threatening comments to a woman at the Mansfield bus station on other occasions.
Ciornei was issued a Community Behaviour Order covering the town centre of Mansfield, in addition to the prison sentence. Ciornei is prohibited from engaging with any females under the age of 18, consuming alcohol in public, or causing harassment, alarm, or distress to any member of the public. This injunction will be in effect for the next two years.
After the Mansfield Neighbourhood policing team submitted a comprehensive report detailing over 18 months of complaints about Ciornei’s conduct, including numerous instances of larceny, harassment, and exposure, the order was granted. An immediate return to prison may result from any violations of the order.
