In 2019, the Offender Database reported that John Paul Whitehouse, then 46, of Castle Street, Brierfield, Lancashire, was jailed for 21 years at Burnley Crown Court. Whitehouse, a convicted paedophile, was described by the judge as a “predatory and manipulative” sexual offender after he admitted to “viciously” raping three children across multiple locations in East Lancashire.

The investigation by Lancashire Constabulary revealed that Whitehouse’s youngest victim was just six years old when the “vile” abuse began. He used “vicious” tactics to control his victims, including offering presents like shoes in exchange for sexual favours and “viciously” grabbing one child by the throat while threatening to kill her if she ever spoke out.

Psychological Harm and Breaches of Trust
Judge Sara Dodd emphasised that Whitehouse caused “serious” and long-lasting psychological harm, driving one of his victims to a suicide attempt. The court reported that:

  • The First Victim: Raped on multiple occasions starting from the age of six.
  • The Second Victim: Subjected to repeated “vicious” rapes and feared she had been made pregnant by the attacker.
  • The Third Victim: Sexually assaulted and “viciously” threatened by Whitehouse to ensure the truth remained hidden.

Whitehouse “viciously” denied the allegations during police interviews in 2007, 2013, and 2016, only entering guilty pleas to 12 counts of sexual abuse on the day his trial was set to begin.

Criminal History and SOPO Breach
The court heard that Whitehouse was already a registered sex offender, having been jailed in 2013 for “viciously” grooming and raping a 14-year-old girl. For his “abhorrent” crimes in Brierfield, he also admitted to breaching a Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) after he was found unsupervised with three children in July.

Sentence and Lifetime Monitoring
For his “serious” and “vile” crimes in East Lancashire, John Paul Whitehouse was:

  • Sentenced to 21 years in prison.
  • Placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
  • Subjected to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for life.

Monitoring and Public Protection
Whitehouse is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Lancashire Constabulary. His residency in Brierfield, Lancashire, and his predatory behaviour remain under the most “serious” level of scrutiny.

As a lifetime member of the Sex Offenders Register, Whitehouse is subject to the strictest notification requirements. Lancashire Constabulary emphasise that “serious” predators who breach court orders and target children will face significant custodial sentences. Any future “vile” behaviour or breach of his lifetime orders will result in his immediate return to Burnley Crown Court.
