In 2019, the Offender Database reported that Michael Lee Clarkson, then 27, of Greenset Close, Lancaster, Lancashire, remains in custody following his seven-year prison sentence. Clarkson, a “vile” and “vicious” predator who used the online alias “Frosty,” was convicted of rape and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. The investigation by Lancashire Constabulary revealed that Clarkson utilised gaming platforms and social media to target “insecure and vulnerable” girls in Lancaster and surrounding areas.

The court heard horrendous details of how Clarkson, identifiable by his blue hair and snake-type piercings, groomed a 13-year-old girl through her Xbox account while she played Grand Theft Auto. Despite being warned off by the child’s older brother, Clarkson “vilely” continued the contact, proposing marriage and “viciously” pressuring the child into performing sexual acts over video messenger. The prosecution emphasised that the victim was left so “profoundly” affected by his “depraved” behaviour that she began to self-harm.

Clarkson also targeted a 15-year-old girl, whom he groomed and subsequently raped. During the proceedings at Preston Crown Court, Emma Keogh, prosecuting, reported that Clarkson displayed “obsessive and jealous” behaviour towards both children. The court was told that the 13-year-old’s mother discovered “vicious” messages from “Frosty” suggesting they meet during the summer holidays to have sex in a swimming pool changing room, further proving his “predatory” intent.

During the sentencing, Judge Philip Parry emphasised the “serious” nature of the harm caused to the young victims. The court reported that Clarkson had “vilely” exploited the girls’ vulnerabilities for his own “vicious” gratification. Alongside his seven-year jail term, Clarkson was handed a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) to restrict his internet use and prevent him from contacting minors in the future.

As a result of his convictions for rape and child sex offences, Michael Lee Clarkson was jailed for seven years and ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life. He is managed under Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) by Lancashire Constabulary, ensuring his behaviour and digital activity in Lancaster and the wider North West are strictly monitored. Any further “vile” attempts to groom children online or breach his SHPO will result in his immediate arrest and return to prison.
