In December 2025, the Offender Database reported that Christopher Jones, 45, of West St Helen Street, Abingdon, was sentenced to a total of 16 years following a series of trials for horrific non-recent child sexual offences. At Oxford Crown Court, Jones was identified as a dangerous predator who had subjected two children to sexual abuse in the summer of 2007, subsequently using death threats to ensure their silence for over a decade.

The court heard that Jones’s conviction followed a complex legal process involving two separate trials. On September 30, 2024, after a re-trial necessitated by a previous hung jury, Jones was found guilty of one count of assault of a child under thirteen by penetration and one count of causing or inciting a child under thirteen to engage in sexual activity. Previously, on October 15, 2024, a jury had found him guilty of two counts of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child. The prosecution detailed how Jones had threatened to kill the victims if they ever disclosed the abuse, a factor that contributed to the significant delay in the case reaching the courts.

Even while under the scrutiny of the court, Jones continued to demonstrate a disregard for the law. While on bail following his first trial, he was placed under an interim Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO). However, he breached this order and was sentenced to an additional 10 months’ imprisonment in April 2025. This history of non-compliance and the nature of his original crimes led the judge to categorise him as a significant risk to the public.

On December 17, 2025, Christopher Jones was sentenced to 13 years in prison with an extended licence period of three years, totalling a 16-year sentence. This extended licence means that upon his release, he will be subject to intense supervision by the National Probation Service for a prolonged period. The judge remarked on the lasting damage caused by his predatory actions and the gravity of the threats used to silence his victims.

As a result of his convictions for serious sexual offences against children, Jones has been placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life. He will be managed under the highest level of Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA) in the Thames Valley area. His lifetime SHPO remains in place, strictly prohibiting him from any unsupervised contact with children and placing permanent restrictions on his residency and digital activities.
