In 2022, Peter Andrew Holmes, the Bristol Paedophile, a former English teacher and rugby coach, was sentenced to 12 years in prison for sexually assaulting 19 students at a private school in North Yorkshire.

Peter Andrew Holmes, residing on King Street, Bristol, perpetrated assaults on his victims from the 1970s to the 1990s while employed at the defunct Malsis School in Glusburn.

Peter Andrew Holmes was convicted of 28 offences, including numerous counts of indecent assault and child indecency.

The 73-year-old, Peter Andrew Holmes, was sentenced at Bradford Crown Court on Friday.

The jury could not reach a verdict on five allegations; nonetheless, the complainant opted not to seek a retrial.

Peter Andrew Holmes was found guilty after a six-week trial in April and May this year.

He was mandated to register as a sex offender and is subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life.

Malsis School, located at Malsis Hall near Crosshills, functioned as an independent preparatory institution until its dissolution in 2014.

Additional allegations of sexual abuse have emerged at the school, as North Yorkshire Police examined 74-year-old music instructor David John Hope, who is currently serving a 17-year jail sentence for the rape of a boy in the 1980s.

The prosecution of Holmes was conducted by Detective Constable Alison Morris, who interrogated the victims and collected several witness statements from former students and staff associated with the institution.

She stated: “It has been established that Peter Andrew Holmes is a methodical child abuser who exploited his authoritative role as a teacher to target the victims who have courageously sought justice against him.”

“His tenure of maltreatment at Malsis School extended over three decades.” He has inflicted significant trauma on the victims, which they have suffered from childhood to the present.

“I sincerely hope that the resolution of this case, with Holmes ultimately facing justice and receiving a substantial prison sentence, will enable them to envision a future filled with hope and happiness.”
