A Bewsey Paedophile, Paul Hankey, reserved a cottage in an attempt to rendezvous with a 12-year-old girl for the purpose of sexual exploitation.

Paul Hankey, residing on Yardley Avenue in Bewsey, appeared before Liverpool Crown Court yesterday, Monday, via video link.

The 58-year-old bowed his head as the court revealed that he had reserved a cottage in Derbyshire in an effort to rendezvous with a 12-year-old child.

The young girl was nonexistent, and Hankey was conversing with an undercover police officer.

Paul Hankey initially engaged with the decoy profile in a chatroom named Chatiw during the previous summer.

Under the pretence of conversing with the mother of a 12-year-old girl, he initiated efforts to orchestrate a meeting for the purpose of sexually exploiting her daughter.

The 58-year-old, Paul Hankey, informed the fraudulent profile that he had previously molested a 10-year-old and expressed interest in minors aged eight to 12 years.

Paul Hankey said that there were ‘excessive timewasters’ on the platform and enquired whether the discussion could be transitioned to WhatsApp.

He then called the decoy and once again stated that he would be interested in meeting up with her and her daughter, expressing how he wanted to sexually abuse her and have her ‘perform oral sex on him’.

“It’s your daughter I want,” he told the decoy.

“I want her so much.”

Paul Hankey informed the decoy the next day that he had booked a remote holiday cottage near Buxton for six days in July 2025.

Prosecuting, Michael O’Brien told the court that the booking was never paid for or fulfilled, with the decoy later messaging Paul Hankey to ask if he had changed his mind.

Paul Hankey was later arrested by police officers, and his devices were seized and searched.

The 58-year-old was found in possession of three indecent images in children, one category A and two category C.

Paul Hankey, wore a grey prison tracksuit, and sighed as Judge Denis Watson contemplated his sentence.

“You pursued your interest in the fictional 12-year-old girl through who you thought was her mother and made it clear that you had a sexual interest in her,” said Judge Watson.

“That girl didn’t exist, but you did not know that.”

Paul Hankey, who has three previous convictions for eight offences, was jailed for a total of four and a half years.

He must also comply with a sexual harm prevention order and remain on the sex offenders register for life.
