An Aylesham Animal Abuser dog owner, Claire Jane Hodgson, who purposely neglected and horrifically tortured her pups to the extent that one resembled a “walking skeleton” has been prohibited from possessing animals for five years.

Claire Jane Hodgson, residing in Aylesham between Canterbury and Dover, tortured the animals and released videos of the abuse online.

A male dog was recorded excitedly, by Claire Jane Hodgson, eating one of the puppies because she had starved it for so long.

The dog’s area was characterised by shattered glass on the floor, an unpleasant odour, and dog pee and excrement embedded in the flooring, as presented in court.

Two of the canines were euthanised to prevent additional suffering.

She attended Margate Magistrates’ Court on Monday, August 18. The RSPCA disclosed the particulars of her case today.

The court was informed that RSPCA Inspector Tina Nash, along by a police officer, attended Hodgson’s residence on March 3 of the previous year, in response to a report indicating that a puppy had been consumed by another dog at that location.

Upon arriving, the carcass of a dog was found in a trash bag outside.

Inside the property, Inspector Nash said there was “broken glass in the hallway, chocolate biscuit wrappers and empty bottles of alcohol strewn about, and a mattress on the floor”.

She said: “The home was dirty, smelled strongly, and appeared not to have been cleaned in quite some time. Dog urine and faeces were trodden into the flooring.”

A dog named Skylar was found in an emaciated state, with Inspector Nash adding: “She was like a walking skeleton.

Inspector Nash said Skylar was ‘like a walking skeleton’ when she was found.

“She was subdued and growling; her body condition was one out of nine.

“Her ears were down, tail tucked, and she appeared to be living a miserable existence.”

Six puppies – White boy, Jacks, Elbow, Luna, White girl, and Pirate – were found shut in a room upstairs in “poor condition”.

“The room was filthy with faeces and urine on the floor, and there were empty food and water bowls,” Inspector Nash explained.

“The stench was overwhelming. The pups were desperately trying to eat anything – tins, wrappers, and rubbish – when they left the room.”

When asked to show the dog food, Hodgson said there was none left and that the dogs had eaten it all.

The male dog, Hooch, was also extremely underweight and lethargic, with his bones visible.

All the dogs were signed over into the care of the RSPCA and taken to a vet, where they were found to be suffering from “severe starvation and resulting emaciation”.

Hodgson has now been banned from keeping animals for five years.

She was also fined £225, ordered to pay a £90 victim surcharge, and a £450 contribution to costs when she appeared in court.

Skylar and four of the puppies have since been successfully rehomed by the RSPCA.

Hooch and two of the puppies had to be euthanised on veterinary advice.

Claire Jane Hodgson’s family stated they could not understand what all the fuss was about, as they were just dogs.
