The tragic death of a Saudi royal in a luxury West London hotel triggered widespread scrutiny following an inquest at Inner West London Coroner’s Court.
Prince Abdullah bin Fahad bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi al Saud, aged 29, was found dead on the bathroom floor of his locked £600-a-night suite at the Marriott Hotel in Kensington. Emergency services were alerted by hotel staff after a cleaner discovered him, but paramedics were unable to revive him.
The inquest revealed that the young royal suffered a fatal cardiac arrest caused by a dangerous mix of alcohol, prescription, and recreational drugs. Toxicology reports showed his blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal driving limit, alongside potentially fatal amounts of the party drug GHB, as well as traces of cannabis, Xanax, and other anti-anxiety medications.
Evidence presented at court highlighted that the prince had been struggling with addiction and had recently completed stays at London’s renowned Priory Clinic and Rainford Hall rehab centre. Assistant Coroner Jean Harkin recorded a verdict of death by misadventure, confirming CCTV evidence proved there was no third-party involvement or intent of self-harm.
