A transgender woman with a moustache and male genitalia, Ciara Watkin, is on trial for Thornaby Sexual Assaults, accused of concealing her biological sex from a guy she was dating.
Ciara Watkin, 21, reportedly spent the night with her purported victim following an exchange of messages on Snapchat, as presented in court.
Prosecutor Paul Reid informed the jury that Ciara Watkin engaged in sexual actions with the man upon his arrival at her residence.
However, she declined his advances, stating that she was menstruating, as reported.
Ciara Watkin later messaged him to admit she had a “massive secret” to which he replied to ask if she was pregnant.
Instead, she/he revealed: “I’m trans. I’m sorry I didn’t tell you.”
The man messaged: “WTF. So you have a d***?”.
He added: “OMFG. I feel ill,” before reporting her to the police.
Mr Reid said: “The defendant had concealed from the man that she had a penis during their brief relationship.
“The man told the police that if he had known Ciara Watkin was transgender, he would not have consented. He said: ‘I don’t swing that way’.”
The court heard that Ciara Watkin’s Snapchat profile used a female cartoon avatar and that there had been no discussion about sexuality or gender.
When arrested, Ciara Watkin told officers: “Me and him had sex without me telling him I was a boy. When I let him know I was a different gender, he didn’t like it.”
Mr Reid added: “She agreed that sexual activity had taken place.”
Ciara Watkin, of Thornaby, Teesside, denies two counts of sexual assault and one count of sexual assault by penetration.
UPDATE 23.08.25

Ciara Watkin, 21, of Walton Street, Stockton-on-Tees, was convicted of several offences including sexual actions conducted with a 21-year-old man over several days in June 2022. The sexual assault charges were filed after Ciara Watkin did not reveal her transgender status to the guy, so preventing him from providing informed permission to their sexual encounter.

The court was informed that the two individuals had first connected via Snapchat, communicating over messaging for several weeks before to convening at a residence in Thornaby.
