A Paedophile sex offender, Matthew Jenkins, from Gravesend has been sentenced to an enhanced term of 26 years for several child sexual crimes. Matthew Jenkins was apprehended on August 8, 2021, following reports to Kent Police that he had preyed upon young victims for a duration of six years.
Authorities confiscated mobile devices and computers, uncovering almost 350 obscene photographs and videos of minors, including some classified in the most severe category. Jenkins, residing on St George’s Crescent in Gravesend, was subsequently charged with several child sexual offences, including rape.
Matthew Jenkins pleaded guilty to all the indictments at Woolwich Crown Court. And on Wednesday, November 6, the 34-year-old was sentenced 18 years in prison. He will have to serve 12 years before he can be considered for parole, after which Jenkins will have to complete eight years on licence.
Investigating officer, Detective Constable Jack Evans, said: “Jenkins is a manipulative predator who abused young children for his own sexual gratification. His depraved actions will have a lasting impact on the victims and I would like to commend their courage in reporting the abuse to the police.
“I hope the fact that he is now serving a lengthy sentence allows those he targeted to move on from their appalling ordeal.”
