Four alleged sex offenders have been charged in connection with a rape investigation in Weston-super-Mare.

After receiving a report regarding a woman being threatened and raped at a property on Sunday, June 21, detectives from our specialised severe sexual offences investigation team, Operation Bluestone, organised the arrests.

The four individuals who have been charged are as follows:

  • Tommy Campbell, a 19-year-old resident of Weston-super-Mare, has been charged with six counts of rape, one count of sexual assault, one count of false imprisonment, and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.
  • Rio Welling, an 18-year-old resident of Weston-super-Mare, has been accused of two counts of rape and one count of false imprisonment.
  • A 17-year-old boy, who is unable to be identified due to his age, has been charged with three counts of rape, one count of false imprisonment, and one count of assault causing actual bodily injury.
  • A second 17-year-old boy, who cannot be identified due to his age, has been charged with one count of rape and one count of assault causing actual bodily harm.

They were all remanded to HMP Bristol, probably safely tucked up with their peers on A Wing, in detention to appear at Taunton Magistrates’ Court.
