Sophie Elms, of Swindon, Wiltshire, is preparing to be released from prison this month after serving a custodial sentence for 16 child sexual offences.
Elms was sentenced to nearly eight years’ imprisonment in 2019 when she was 18 years old and enrolled on a childcare course at a local college.
The criminal investigation revealed that Elms had carried out a series of serious sexual offences against young children across Wiltshire, with the youngest child being just two years old.
The court heard that the abuse caused catastrophic emotional and psychological harm to the victims and their families.
Following her conviction, Elms was admitted to prison custody and later released under licence conditions.
However, offender managers initiated a licence recall, returning Elms to prison after she breached the strict behavioural requirements imposed by the court and probation services.
Community members and parents in Wiltshire have raised substantial concerns upon learning of her imminent release date.
Public protection officials have confirmed that Elms will be placed under strict multi-agency public protection arrangements (MAPPA) involving police and probation officers.
Under these statutory arrangements, authorities will actively monitor her living arrangements, activities, and interactions.
Elms will remain subject to mandatory reporting obligations and strict requirements under the Sex Offenders Register.
