Sonny Boyes, the Exeter Rapist, an arrogant teen accused of carrying out a double sex attack in Exeter, has told a jury both victims were ‘crying rape’ to get him into trouble.

Sonny Boyes, 19, says he had ‘dumb teenage sex’ with a 16-year-old in bushes, but it was consensual.

He also admits to kissing and fondling a 17-year-old girl at a bus stop and on a train a few minutes later.

But he said both alleged victims were ‘making a mountain out of a molehill’ and enjoyed the encounters ‘without a shadow of a doubt’.

Sonny Boyes described himself as a traditionalist and a man with a ‘strong moral foundation’.

He said he regarded both of the alleged victims as ‘slags’ but would not have said that to their faces.

Sonny Boyes described the allegations as ‘a big fat f*** off lie’.

The defendant was giving evidence in his defence on the fourth day of his trial at Exeter Crown Court.

The prosecution says Sonny Boyes is a ‘highly sexualised’ young man who raped his first victim in bushes before sexually assaulting the second as she waited for a train.

He denies all 10 charges. He told the jury that the first girl willingly followed him into the bushes and gave him oral sex and then full sex.

“She was all over me”, he said.

Sonny Boyes claimed she had a ‘stinking attitude’ and told him to hurry up, rolling her eyes and flicking her hair. “It was disgusting, a bit rude,” he said.

The confrontation concluded when other lads entered the bushes in search of a football. CCTV footage shown to the jurors depicts the girl fleeing across the Digby park and ride parking lot.

Sonny Boyes reports encountering the second purported victim while proceeding towards the Digby and Sowton train station.

He requested to use her phone’s data, and shortly thereafter, was seated at a bus shelter, engaging in kissing and physical affection with her.

He said at one point she got up to walk away but returned to masturbate him ‘with a great big smile on her face’.

He said he touched the girl intimately between her legs as she sat on his lap, but would never do that without her consent.

Sonny Boyes said she never asked him to stop and was ‘laughing and giggling’ the whole time.

“I’m a good man,” he said. He said he had made the mistake of giving himself to girls who did not respect him as much as he respected them.

The incidents happened on May 9, 2025. Police arrested Sonny Boyes that evening at McDonald’s in Exeter.

He told them he was a ‘stud’ and didn’t need to rape girls because he was so good-looking.

Sonny Boyes admitted he had a reputation as a ‘cocky Essex boy’ and can ‘easily get pissed off’.

He denied the victims would have been intimidated by his muscular appearance and said he would never lay a hand on a woman who didn’t want him to. “Not in a million years,” he said.

He was requested to see the CCTV footage, which the prosecution asserts depicts the second woman appearing distressed by his conduct.

Sonny Boyes said she was ‘trying to get everyone to look at her’ so she could ‘cry rape’ later.

He said both girls felt guilty because they had cheated on their boyfriends with him.

He said the first victim would have screamed if she had been getting brutally raped in the bushes, but she hadn’t and was ‘making a mountain out of a molehill’.

Sonny Boyes was asked whether he was someone who doesn’t listen when women say ‘no’ to him. “It’s all about what you want, isn’t it?” asked Miss Hope.

Sonny Boyes denied it was.

The defendant has pleaded not guilty to three charges of rape relating to the first incident, four charges of assault by penetration and three charges of sexual assault.

The jury is expected to retire on Friday to consider verdicts.
