In 2022, Ryan Norton, the Norwich Paedophile, a “dangerous young man” was incarcerated for perpetrating various sexual offences against four victims over a nine-month duration.
Ryan Norton, then 19, assaulted four victims aged 13, 15, 21, and 22 from June 2021 to March 2022.
Norwich Crown Court was informed that he enticed a victim, aged 22, to a deserted mill in the Bracondale region of Norwich, where he perpetrated rape and sexual assault against her.
Duncan O’Donnell, for the prosecution, stated that on January 27 of this year, law enforcement was alerted by the victim, who recounted her visit to the derelict structure with Norton.
Mr O’Donnell stated that the woman and Norton had to “scale a fence” to access the building, and once inside, Ryan Norton expressed his “desire” for her and proceeded to sexually abuse and rape her.
Mr O’Donnell stated that another victim, aged 21, was subjected to rape on two occasions in March 2022.
The rape offences occurred subsequent to three instances of sexual conduct with a minor that Ryan Norton perpetrated against a 13-year-old girl he encountered after communicating with her on Snapchat.
Ryan Norton encountered another victim, aged 15, at a park adjacent to Goldwell Road in Norwich and subsequently sexually attacked her after providing smokes and alcohol.
Ryan Norton, residing on Clarkson Road, Norwich, appeared in court for sentencing on Friday, November 4, after having previously confessed to three charges of rape, two acts of engaging in sexual conduct with a minor, and three counts of assault by penetration.
Judge Katharine Moore characterised the charges as “extremely serious,” asserting that the “sexual offending was not merely opportunistic” and noting that there was “a degree of planning.”
Judge Moore imposed a total sentence of 17 years, consisting of nine years in a juvenile offenders institution and eight years on extended liberty, describing Ryan Norton as a “dangerous young man.”
Ian James, in mitigation, stated that both he and the defendant “acknowledged the significant severity of the offences committed.”
He stated he was a “young man who has experienced significant difficulties in his life” but wished to apologise to his victims.
Ryan Norton was issued a restraining order, effective until further notice, prohibiting him from contacting any of his four victims, either directly or indirectly.
A sexual harm prevention order (SHPO) was issued against Norton until further notice.
Ryan Norton is required to register as a sex offender for life.
