Roy Borrowdale, the Driffield Paedophile, a bar landlord convicted of multiple heinous sexual acts against minors, including the rape of a youngster, has been sentenced to 25 years in prison.

An inquiry into Roy Borrowdale commenced in 2018 when one of his victims courageously reported the sexual assaults he perpetrated against her in the early 2010s.

Her statement prompted additional victims to come forward as a troubling pattern of abuse surfaced.

Authorities confiscated Roy Borrowdale’s phone and discovered evidence indicative of grooming; however, the 67-year-old refuted his participation, asserting that others had access to his phone during his employment at the pub.

His refusal to acknowledge his crimes compelled his victims to undergo a trial and re-experience the traumas of the sexual assaults and abuse inflicted by Roy Borrowdale.

Roy Borrowdale, 67 years old, of Church Lane in Driffield, was found guilty of eight counts of sexual abuse, including raping a girl under 13, raping a girl aged 13 to 15, assaulting a girl under 13 by touching and five counts of sexual assault on a female.

A jury acquitted him of the charge of raping a lady aged 16 or older.

Earlier today (Thursday, 23 October), Roy Borrowdale was sentenced at Grimsby Crown Court to 25 years of imprisonment, with a further 12 months to be served on licence.

Roy Borrowdale was issued a lifelong sexual harm prevention order.
