Raj Devjee, then aged 21, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment at Northampton Crown Court on 21 August 2026 after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual assault against women in Northampton town centre.
The criminal investigation was launched by Northamptonshire Police following two reports of sexual assaults committed near Victoria Promenade within an 11-day period in October 2025.
The court heard that the first assault took place at approximately 2.55am on 4 October 2025 along St John’s Street, where a woman walking home with a friend after a night out was approached from behind and sexually assaulted.
The second offence occurred at around 10.30pm on 15 October 2025 near the junction of St John’s Street and Victoria Promenade. Devjee approached a woman walking with friends from behind, subjected her to a sexual assault that left her with bruising, and fled into St John’s car park.
CCTV enquiries proved vital to the investigation, capturing clear footage of Devjee fleeing the second scene and discarding his coat. When officers subsequently arrested him, he was wearing clothing that matched the description from the first assault.
While Devjee denied involvement during initial police interviews, forensic analysis detected his DNA on clothing recovered from both victims.

The presiding judge sentenced Devjee to a total custodial sentence of 30 months’ imprisonment. The court also ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely and made him subject to a three-year restraining order.
Release Calculation: Under UK sentencing legislation governing sexual offences, Devjee is required to serve two-thirds (20 months / 1 year and 8 months) of his 30-month sentence in prison custody before becoming eligible for statutory release on licence. His projected release date falls in April 2028, whereupon he will remain subject to licence conditions and community supervision until the expiration of the full term in February 2029.
