An asylum seeker, Qais Al-Aswad, the Horley Sex Offender, has finally been jailed after being convicted of three counts of sexual assault by touching at a hearing at Guildford Magistrates’ Court earlier today (22 October).

Qais Al-Aswad, 26, residing on Brighton Road in Horley, received a six-month jail sentence suspended for two years and was mandated to do 200 hours of unpaid labour, but offended again.

Al-Aswad was convicted after a one-day trial at Staines Magistrates’ Court on 20 August and remanded in custody.

He was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

In June, Qais Al-Aswad was apprehended and indicted after an inquiry into multiple incidents of sexual assault, including inappropriate touching of three women by a man on a bicycle in Horley, occurring between May 23 and June 12.

The initial crime occurred outside Dentistree on 23 May, followed by more offences outside The Factory Shop on 4 June and 12 June.
