A 26-year-old Liverpool man has received an immediate custodial sentence of five years at Liverpool Crown Court after being found guilty of multiple sexual offences against a 14-year-old girl whom he targeted and groomed via social media.
Mohammed Ajmal, residing at Mossley Hill Drive in Sefton Park, Liverpool, appeared in the dock for sentence on Thursday 5 November 2026 following the conclusion of a three-day contested Crown Court trial.
The court heard that the offending took place three years prior, when Ajmal was 22 years of age. Ajmal initiated contact with the female victim—who was 14 years old at the time—using the messaging application Snapchat.
After grooming the child online, Ajmal arranged to collect her in his vehicle from the Nocturum area of Wirral. He then drove her across to a residential flat in Widnes, Cheshire, where he subjected her to penetrative sexual abuse. Later that same evening, Ajmal transported the victim back towards Merseyside, where he carried out an additional sexual assault in Birkenhead.
Ajmal, a British national born in Manchester, denied the charges throughout the investigation and contested the allegations at trial. However, after deliberating the evidence presented over three days, the jury rejected his claims and returned guilty verdicts on:
One count of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15
Two counts of sexual activity with a girl aged 13 to 15
Under the provisions of the Sexual Offences (Amendment) Act 1992, the child victim is protected by mandatory, lifelong statutory anonymity. Any publication, broadcast, or public dissemination of information capable of leading to her identification is strictly prohibited under UK law.
Sentencing Ajmal at Liverpool Crown Court, the presiding judge ordered him to serve an immediate prison term of five years.
In addition to the custodial sentence, the court made Ajmal subject to statutory notification requirements on the Sex Offenders Register for an indefinite period. A Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) was also imposed, which will remain active for 10 years following his eventual release from prison to strictly regulate his digital communication and contact with children.
