Michael Thomas Davies, the Tewkesbury Paedophile, an 80-year-old man, has been convicted of child sexual assault charges committed approximately 30 years prior.
A jury convicted Michael Thomas Davies of the counts after a four-day trial at Gloucester Crown Court.
The court was informed that Michael Thomas Davies sexually attacked the youngster multiple times and raped the same child on a distinct occasion.
After an inquiry by the Criminal Investigations Department of Gloucestershire Constabulary, Davies was charged with one crime of rape and four counts of indecent assault.
Michael Thomas Davies, residing on Knights Way, consistently refuted the allegations during the inquiry and trial, but on Thursday, 25 September, a jury unanimously convicted him of all charges.
He was placed in custody and is scheduled to be sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court on Thursday, 16 October.
Detective Constable Emma Smith, the investigating officer, stated: “Michael Thomas Davies groomed, raped, and sexually abused the child while he was in his 50s.”
I wish to express my gratitude to the victim for her resilience and bravery in exposing the actions perpetrated against her.
She had previously contacted the police but felt unable to pursue prosecution at that time. In 2022, she opted to proceed with the inquiry, resulting in the case being reopened and Michael Thomas Davies subsequently facing charges.
This case illustrates that individuals may report occurrences or opt to initiate prosecution at a moment of their choosing and when they feel at ease doing so. The matter pertains to victims and survivors exercising their autonomy.
“We will examine offences committed several years ago, and this case demonstrates that justice can still be attained after a significant passage of time.”
If you have been sexually attacked, assistance is available, and law enforcement has specially trained investigators to investigate such offences.
