In 2022, Michael Ellis, the Owen Hindley Paedophile, from Wigan, who was branded a “dangerous individual” after kidnapping and sexually assaulting a vulnerable teenage girl, was caged for seven and a half years.
Michael Ellis Owen, 34, of Bridgewater Street, Hindley, committed the offences against a 16-year-old girl on Sunday, March 13.
Bolton Crown Court heard that Michael Ellis Owen, who had pleaded guilty at a previous hearing, had seen the intoxicated teenager outside a nightclub in Leigh at 5 am.
He approached and helped her, assuming he was looking out for her.
He then helped her into a taxi, telling the driver to drop them off at his home on Bridgewater Street.
Once there, the girl reported she remembered waking up in Michael Ellis Owen’s bed, partially clothed and screaming to go home, but was told by Michael Ellis Owen that he was looking after her.
Giving evidence to the court via video link, his victim reported that her memory was very patchy and she next remembered someone banging on Michael Ellis Owen’s front door.
This was her father, who had obtained the address from the taxi driver and answered the phone the youngster had dropped in his cab when her father had rung it.
The court was told Michael Ellis Owen had called 999 to report someone banging on his front door. At the same time, the father was ringing the police to report that his daughter was being kept against her will.
When police attended a few minutes later and the circumstances were determined, Michael Ellis Owen was immediately arrested and taken into custody for questioning.
The youngster was taken to the hospital for examination.
The judge called Michael Ellis Owen a “dangerous offender” and handed down an extended licence period of four years, with a lifetime restraining order against the victim.
Michael Ellis Owen was also made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO), with the conditions to be agreed upon by the prosecution, defence, and probation later.
