Mervyn Richards, Burslem Sex Offender, a 66-year-old man, has received a sentence after confessing to multiple instances of indecent exposure in Alsager.
Mervyn Richards of High Lane, Burslem, was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on 29 October after admitting to seven counts of exposure. He entered a plea of not guilty to an additional four charges, which will be retained on record.
Mervyn Richards received a 30-month prison sentence, a 39-month driving licence prohibition, mandatory registration on the Sex Offenders Register, and a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
The court was informed that between November 2022 and December 2024, Mervyn Richards travelled to Alsager to prey on women of pensionable age.
In each instance, he drove parallel to a solitary woman in the town and garnered their attention by enquiring about directions to the clinic or assistance with a medical concern.
Upon approaching his vehicle, they observed that Mervyn Richards was unclothed from the waist down, revealing his genitalia.
The women were astonished and frightened by his behaviour and reported the instances to the authorities.
