Matthew Dunn, aged 30, of Bentilee, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, has been sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday, 28 August 2026, after pleading guilty to child rape and sexual assault.

The criminal investigation was initiated in 2022 when the offences were formally disclosed and reported to Staffordshire Police.

Detectives from the force’s Public Protection Unit (PPU) launched an inquiry into the allegations, gathering forensic and testimonial evidence relating to the abuse of two female survivors.

The investigation established that Dunn had subjected a young girl to rape and committed multiple sexual assaults.

Faced with the evidence compiled by safeguarding investigators, Dunn admitted his culpability during court proceedings.

Appearing before Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court, Dunn pleaded guilty to:

  • One count of rape of a girl
  • Three counts of sexual assault of a girl

The presiding judge sentenced Dunn to an immediate custodial sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment.

The court also granted an indefinite restraining order banning Dunn from contacting either survivor, and made him subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
