Luke Douglas, then aged 21, of Old Street, London, has been sentenced to four and a half years in prison following a violent physical attack on a woman at an Islington property.
The incident took place on 4 July 2020 during a gathering of friends. At approximately 4:00am, while the victim was resting on a mattress, Douglas carried out a severe personal attack against her. Metropolitan Police officers attended the address, provided support to the victim, and arrested Douglas later the same day.
Detectives conducted a detailed investigation, gathering witness statements from attendees and securing physical evidence from the property. Douglas was formally charged with rape and sexual assault by penetration.
Douglas denied the allegations, requiring a full crown court trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court in July 2022, where a jury convicted him on both counts.
