Lawrence Seivwright, then aged 41, of Gaer Vale, Newport, South Wales, appeared before Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, 28 August 2026, after being arrested on a bench warrant and admitting to an act of outraging public decency.
The prosecution follows an incident that occurred in a public place in Newport on Thursday, 18 June 2026.
The court heard that Seivwright lowered his trousers in public view, placed his fingers inside his rectum, and repeatedly forced them in and out.
Seivwright was subsequently granted bail in criminal proceedings but failed without reasonable cause to attend Cardiff Crown Court on 3 August 2026, resulting in a judge issuing a bench warrant for his arrest.
Upon being brought before the court, Seivwright entered guilty pleas to:
- Outraging public decency
- Failing to surrender to custody
The court heard that Seivwright has an extensive record of past criminal conduct, possessing multiple prior convictions for supplying heroin, offences of violence, harassment, criminal damage, and shoplifting.
The presiding judge ordered the preparation of a pre-sentence report and remanded Seivwright in prison custody.
A formal sentencing hearing has been scheduled at Cardiff Crown Court for Friday, 2 October 2026.
