In 2021, Keiran Alderton, a then 31-year-old man from Anfield, was jailed following a police operation into online grooming and illicit digital material.
Keiran Alderton, of Feltwell Road, Anfield, was sentenced at Liverpool Crown Court to two years and two months in prison after pleading guilty to charges including attempting to meet a child following grooming, sexual communication, and possessing prohibited digital media.
Officers arrested Alderton at a retail park following a targeted undercover police operation designed to catch online offenders. A subsequent search of his mobile phone uncovered hundreds of illegal files and evidence of dangerous online communications across multiple platforms. Detectives noted that his actions showed a clear intent to move from digital communication to real-world harm before law enforcement intervened. The court recognised the vital role played by specialised law enforcement units in intercepting such offences.
In addition to his custodial sentence, he was placed on the Sex Offenders Register for ten years. He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for the same period to restrict his online activities.
