In 2022, a Worthing Paedophile, John Robert West, was sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for the sexual abuse of a child about 20 years ago in Waterlooville.
Today, Monday, December 12, John Robert West, 42, of Shetland Court, Worthing, appeared at Portsmouth Crown Court after a jury found him guilty of child sex offences.
In 2019, the victim told the police that West had sexually assaulted her when she was only 13 years old in 2005. The victim first reported the assault in 2005, but she later retracted her claim out of dread of going through the legal system.
An inquiry was started in 2019 when cops received the report. Following an interview, West was charged with one count of having sex with a child and one count of encouraging or forcing a child to have sex.
In August of this year, a jury found him guilty of both charges despite his not guilty plea.
When West was sentenced, His Honour Judge Shepherd pointed out that he had neither apologised to his victim nor expressed sorrow or remorse for the crimes he had perpetrated.
