For child sex offences, a 34-year-old Southampton resident, John Joseph Sullivan, was sentenced to six years and two months in prison.

On Wednesday, June 17, Southampton Crown Court condemned John Joseph Sullivan of Wharncliffe Road, Southampton.

He had previously entered guilty pleas to 31 counts of voyeurism, possession of extreme pornography, taking, creating, and disseminating indecent photographs of children, and sexual abuse of children under the age of 13. The events took place in 2023.

In January of this year, Sullivan was initially taken into custody. After his electronic devices were examined, he was charged and arrested.

He was given an extended licence period of three years and ten months, which he will serve after his release from prison, in addition to the time he will already spend behind bars.

Sullivan was also placed under a 20-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and will always be included on the Sex Offenders‘ Register.

I’m happy that justice has been served for the young victim and their family, and that Sullivan is behind bars, where he belongs,” said DC Aimee Scott-Molloy of the Internet Child Abuse Team following sentencing.

Since he is now incarcerated and unable to hurt any other youth, children, and the larger community are safer.

“I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for the youngster and their family, even though Sullivan robbed their innocence.

Throughout our investigation, they have demonstrated extraordinary bravery, strength, and tenacity.
