Jason Fen Hender, then aged 49, of Ger Y Winllan, Llangefni, Anglesey, was sentenced at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting an on-duty police officer and possessing Class A drugs.
The conviction followed a swift law enforcement response by North Wales Police on Saturday, 5 September.
Two uniform officers were conducting routine patrols in Llangefni when they encountered a volatile altercation taking place in the street that placed members of the public in danger.
The officers intervened and successfully de-escalated the situation to protect bystanders.
However, during the incident, Hender carried out a sexual assault against one of the attending officers.
Hender was immediately arrested and subjected to a search, which revealed that he was in possession of a quantity of cocaine.
He was processed through police custody and brought before Llandudno Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 7 September—just two days after the commission of the offences.
In court, Hender entered guilty pleas to:
- One count of sexual assault
- One count of possession of a Class A drug (cocaine)
District Support Sergeant Matt Bentley condemned Hender’s actions, stating that the assault was a humiliating and degrading experience for an officer who was dedicated to protecting the community.
Sergeant Bentley noted the prompt judicial outcome and reiterated that predatory behaviour and violence against women and girls would face decisive policing action.
The presiding magistrates sentenced Hender to 30 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for a period of 18 months.
In addition to the suspended custodial term, Hender was made subject to the notification requirements of the Sex Offenders Register and ordered to register with police for a period of ten years.
